Hi Deni
I asked my friend who's a mortgage advisor about something like this...
I want to buy a house later this year and also want to get a 0% credit card to pay off another card, pretty much now. I asked him if the card was refused would it affect the mortgage application. He said it shouldn't do.
However, I would suggest that if you're unsuccessful applying for a card don't apply for any more, because the Capital One application *will* affect your credit rating.
Is it possible it was refused for another reason?Debt, debt, debt:

Also if you use a card for a balance transfer never ever use it for purchases!!
Just look at this quote from the Balance transfers page by Martin
The most important warning about long term debt cards
There’s a hidden sting with these cards; if you spend on them, it’s at a high interest rate and can’t be repaid until all the cheap debt has been. They may try and tempt you with cashback or short term 0% deals on any spending; ignore it. The rule is simple; never, ever, ever, ever spend on these cards. If you do all the benefit will be lost.
