Aberdeen to London, help

My wife and i live in aberdeen but are desperate to go to london to attend a very close friends funeral on friday. We can't afford the quoted 500-600 for normal air travel, could do it cheaper by easyjet but only two flights to luton a day and the times don't work out!!!! Is there any other way we shoud be looking for better deals, standby etc

thats going to be the last resort, as there are engineering works on sat so journey estimate is about 10.5 hours. including a bus journey from dundee to aberdeen. But i am guessing that the train will be the only option

Does it have to be to Luton? What about Stansted, Heathrow etc.?

Megatrain does not cover scotland yet, no would prefer another airport but easyet only fly to Luton from aberdeen

If you get the bus to Edinburgh, then you can fly easyjet to Gatwick for a lot less. Megabus is very cheap but it takes forever from Aberdeen to London.

could you not fly ryan air to dublin then dublin to stanstead would be cheaper

Look for flights between Edinburgh or Glasgow as well and travel down there for departure. Use th fligthtchecker on the site here as well for searching
