we use little offcuts to stand on in kitchen by cooker and sink as we have flagstone tiles which can be chilly underfoot. And another as a doormat.

If you regularly use a shed then you can put in on floor in there to keep it toasty.

i always use carpet for the top of our composter,it keeps the warmth in and the slow worms, worms and other creepy crawlies love it!
  • I always have an offcut to fit my car boot perfectly. Keeps it looking smart when trading it in.

I gave up jogging for health reasons; my thighs rubbed together and my knickers caught fire!
  • I know my gran used to get the shop that supplied the carpet to turn offcuts into rugs by weaving the edges. Not sure if they still do this (its 25 years ago now :)) but it did make more serviceable and long lasting rugs for heavy wear areas of the carpet.

aha, I can remember my mum getting this done when I was younger too, but I seem to think the shop that did it stopped doing it..I will try and find out!!

Thanks for all the great ideas, you are all so inventive! Sadly I have no shed, loft, allotment, composter or garage so cannot use my carpet up there!! (I feel a bit deprived now though!)

However, if I am unable to get some made into rugs I may freecycle it so that someone else with an allotment or whatever can make use of it

    thanks again,
