    Personally i'd get the 16x that way you can always make the most of them in a pc at a later date without worrying about speeds and slowing things down.

    I would have gone with 8x, unless it's a new recorder.
    You will find that the Panasonic manual does contain the information that you need(unless you have ripped out the relevant pages).

    It will contain information about the discs compatible with the firmware in the player. You just need to look a little more closely.
