Just wondered if anyone could recommend a good campsite near an airport, preferably served by a low cost airline. We love France, Italy or Spain.

For Spain two airports with cheap flights and campsites nearby are:
1. Reus Airport: Very close to Salou which is nice and has many campsites and is home to Port Aventura. An excellent campsite is www.sanguli.es which is on the coast.
2. Girona Airport: Very close to the Costa Brava coastline where again there are an abundance of campsites and towns to stay. www.cypsela.com has been voted the number one campsite numerous times but it all depends on what you require.
Both campsites are big with lots going on. Make sure you go direct with the campsites to get the best prices and don't be afraid to make an offer. If you cannot speak Spanish get a friend who can to make a call because that will break the ice and the Spanish people will love you for trying.0 -

Camping du Pylone is near Antibes in the south of France.
It is 20 minutes by train to Nice and the airport, 20 to Cannes in the opposite direction.
Monte Carlo is 50 minutes, and Italy 1 hour 15.
The campsite is 400 yards from the beach, and 200 from a train station.
It has a large bar and restuarant, shop, bakery and swimming pool.0 -
FZwanab,
yes we have stayed in both campsites along with a couple of others in France.
Both campsites were fantastic. Sanguli was great because we used this as a base to go the the Port Aventura theme park. It is near the beach and a day or two on the beach is always good fun. The only slight downside to this park was that a rail line runs through the main gates. However it does have security and appears very safe! The camp have "tahiti" huts which are great fun and different from tents or mobile homes. Staff great and lots to do for the kids.
Cypsela is another great park with lots to do on-site. Its location is not as great in our opinion because the park is isolated from anything else. It is a drive to the beach which only has a few restaurants and nothing else. It is a good location though for getting out and about.
I would go back to Sanguli before Cypsela and so would the kids which is the most important thing!0 -
Some friends of ours have been to to Camping du Pylone in Antibes several times without a car. If you rent a caravan from one of the independent owners (lots come up if you google), they will come to pick you up from the airport for a reasonable fee. It is close to a funfair, which the older kids loved. As the other person said, it is also close to the station, which takes you all along the coast, up to Monte Carlo one way and St Tropez etc the other, so easy to get around if you want to travel.
There are also some lovely campsites not too far from Perpignan airport, in Argeles-sur-mer, but can't remember the names sorry!0 -
we just booked to fly ryanair to pisa for £115 for 2 adults, 1 infant sat-sat and then £149 for a caravan booked with siblu at norcenni girasole which is about 1hr30mins away. going mid april. we are going to hire a car as we will want one anyway but the airport has a train station to get you to the village (figline valdarno) and then I think there is a campsite bus that runs from there.0

We have flown to Venice Marco Polo and stayed at a campsite on the Venetian Riviera which starts aorund Lido Di Jesolo in the east and closest to the airport and stretches west to Punta Sabbioni where you catch the ferry to Venice proper. There are dozens of campsites along this stretch, many used by Eurocamp, Sibly etc but will be much cheaper if you book with a smaller company or direct with the campsite. Here's one I found after following a link posted on MSE recently

You can get to this area with ATVO

Just wanted to point out that the train does not go to St Tropez.
It only goes as far as St Raphael, then you have to get a bus.
As well as the funfair across the road from the entrance, there is Marineland 400 yards away.
It is the same as Seaworld in Florida and is great.0
