Connect to home pc from work

Hi
Wondered if this is possible and what do i need?
Basically sitting here at lunchtime thinking that i should have added something to my spreadsheet which is on my home pc.

It runs xp pro and is attached to my home wireless router.

Wondered if there was a way to access at least certain files on this hard drive or any software that can buy to do it

    logmein.com
    install it at home and you can log in from anywhere without installing software on the remote pc, best of all it's free :)

    An alternative would be to upload documents to Google Docs and then you can edit them form anywhere
    It's taken me years of experience to get this cynical

    There are many remote access / remote desktop packages out there, TightVNC, RealVNC, GoToMyPC etc. LogMeIn is excellent, there is a free version and a more powerful commercial version.

    However you may need permission from your work IT dept to use them, as some view them as a security risk.

    Thanks for your replies.
    So far have tried logmein.
    But as pointed out appears to be blocked by my work, as asks for me to log in to a proxy server?

    Dont really want to ask IT for help to be honest.
    Guess may try the others however think they will be blocked also
