    There is some information here:

    Heathrow - Stansted

The coach (National Express) is £20.50 one-way, £26.00 return and takes 90 minutes.

BUT please note it says this: "The road connection between Heathrow and Stansted is all motorway, but is one of Europe's most busiest.Expect and Budget for delays"

Alternatively, get the tube from Heathrow to Tottenham Hale or Liverpool Street and get the Stansted Express. I don't know the tube fare, but it can only be a few pounds and I think the Stansted Express is about £15 one-way.
There quite a lot of info on these options on the link above.
    Not even wrong

Get the Piccadilly Line tube from Heathrow to Green Park and change on to a north bound Victoria Line Train going to Walthamstow Central and alight at Tottenham Hale - Single Fare £3.80 (Zones 1 - 6 ticket) journey time allow approx 60 - 70 mins, although can often be quicker.

At Tottenham Hale get the Stanstead Airport train. I believe they run every 30 mins at 11 and 41 mins past the hour and a single ticket is £14.50 and the journey time is timetabled at 34 mins. There is also a slower train that takes approx 50 - 55 mins and runs between the two fast trains.

The Coach wilkl use the M4, M25 and M11 and could theoretically do the journey in, I would think 90 mins but I would allow at least an hour on that.

You can save a further 50p with terravision by booking online-you also get priority for getting on the bus with the prepaid ticket.

We are assuming that your son is over 15.If he is not then the fares will be cheaper. But look on the respective websites to see the stipulations
required for proof of age etc.

You could also get the tube to Golders Green, then National Express (£8) the rest of the way

BTW Terravision from Liverpool Street is £6.70 including on-line discount
  • i have used the heathrow to stansted national express service several times, although only on saturdays or sunday...no problems at all..about 90 mins

at least one service does not go direct to stansted, goes to hartford university first just to see if any students are waiting!!

its very handy outside terminal 2, i wouldnt consider going by heathrow/stansted express...more expensive and longer journey, not sure if the tube option is any better

    i would recomend national express
