Argos delivered table+chairs/what a mess!!

I received a table and four chairs from Argos today, I signed on the delivery slip that it was unchecked, thankfully. I just got around to unpacking it just now and boy it sure is in some mess.

There is a large staple through the underside of the table and some corrugated cardboard hanging from it.

There is a large chunk out of one of the corners of the table.

There is red paint on another corner of the table.

One of the sections of the chairs looks like a dog has chewed the top of it.

One of the seat sections, fabric is all dirty as the cellophane wrap has been pulled from it.

There is various gouges and nicks all around the table etc.

There is also two white markings on one side of the table, looks like it's been bleached or something.

Has anyone had a flatpack item delivered from Argos before? I wondered whether they normally have like the plastic strips round the box/wrapping etc or is it just tape. They delivered the item at 8.55am this morning as I was rushing out the door with the boys for school so no time to check. Noticed that the top of the box was just held on with a strip of sellotape. Not really securely closed, cardboard just tucked in. I think it's probably been one that's been returned as there is markings on the box where the packaging strips should have been but it had just been roughly taped up with sellotape.

Is it normal to get something in such a state from Argos (flat pack) as I've never ordered from them before. If I reorder the table and chairs set from them again, what are the chances of it arriving more or less intact, or is it likely that it will be a load of trash again?

I'm really hacked off, the kids were excited and headed off to bed thinking that it would be all set up in the morning but this isn't going to be the case.

I'm totally p***ed off. I had to laugh when I took a quick look at the directions for assembling it, just to get an idea of what's involved in putting it all together if and when I eventually get a decent bunch of stuff sent to me. It states, please unpack this item on a soft surface so that it doesn't get scratched, in case of return etc, or words to that effect. HUH

If I had an open fire, or an Aga/Rayburn etc, it's all it would be fit for, !!!!!! firewood (as I crank up the chainsaw). (Smiley Mum chasing after Argos Delivery guy Texas chainsaw massacre style  )

Any info on Argos delivery service for flat pack stuff/or previous experience of there service appreciated. Thanks to all.

Never had the experience with Argos but if you rant at them as you've ranted on here explaining all thats wrong i can't see any problems with them changing it for another one
