Smirnoff Black Vodka is giving you another cause to celebrate with friends and family in January – this time in traditional Russian style*. A smooth and mellow vodka made in the UK in the style of vodkas once savoured in old Russia, Smirnoff Black will be raising a toast to traditional Russian New Year on Sunday 13 January 2008 to honour the 18th century ‘Golden Era’ of Russian vodka production. New Year is one of the most anticipated occasions in the calendar and according to old Russian tradition, the way you celebrate it sets the tone for the whole of the year ahead.

Smirnoff Black pays tribute to Russia’s golden age of 18th century vodka production, by using a copper-pot distillation method, creating a distinctively smooth vodka. These unique vodkas were the drink of choice for the Russian aristocracy and the Csar alike.

Raise a toast to the start of a stylish New Year with Smirnoff Black by enjoying a Smirnoff Black cocktail at home with friends:

Follow these easy steps to sipping an authentic Fresh 55 using:

• 50ml Smirnoff Black vodka
• 1 sugar cube
• 3 lemon wedges
• 2 sprigs of mint
• 30ml ginger ale
(2 units of alcohol per serving)

Add the sugar cube, lemon and a mint sprig to a mixing glass and muddle. Add Smirnoff Black and shake with ice. Strain into a highball glass filled with ice. Top with ginger ale and garnish with a mint sprig

Question: The Golden Era of Russian Vodka was in which century?

Answer: 18th Century

Good Luck :D
