Hi, i've applied for DSA due to a back condition i've had for years. I've got an assessment interview this week and just wondering what to expect. Thanks.

The DSA assessor my partner had was great, although this was for dyslexia. Presumably you have provided some medical evidence? Just get clear in your head exactly what problems with studying comes from your back - will you need a laptop because you can't sit at a desktop due to pain in your back? Is it a strain to hand-write because of the angle, is it easier to type? The assessor takes notes on a mini computer or on paper and will bring some equipment to show you. Really think of a bad day and describe how this would effect your study. Also explain if you can't drive will you need a taxi for travel because public transport is to uncomfortable? What extra costs will you incur as a result of your back problem?
After this you will get a draft needs assessment which you can ask to be amended if needed, then a final assessment along with purchase orders for equipment etc. Hope this helps!
