BMI Premium Economy, any good?

Now that my beloved MAXjet has bitten the dust, and the horrible experience of returning to the U.K. from Las Vegas via Virgin, we are looking at new carriers to ferry us back and forth to that destination several times more this year. I have been looking at BMI Premium Economy as an alternative but have heard that the seats are just economy with more leg room and not worth the extra money. I did hear somewhere that they were thinking of moving the Upper class seats back to Prem. as they installed flat beds in Upper, has this happened?
Also, if you manage to get one of the fantastic cheap flights with Mytravel from MAN by booking last minute, can you upgrade to Prem. Gold, years ago when I traveled with them before, you could phone up a number within 7 days of departure and they would sell you the seats at about £100 each if there were any left.

The common law of business balance prohibits paying a little and getting a lot. If you deal with the lowest bidder, it is well to add something for the risk you run, and if you do that you will have enough to pay for something better.

For transatlantic they are simply the best:) Following their refurb (Nov 07) the PE cabin now has the seats which were previously in the biz cabin - they are very comfortable (we flew MAN-LAS return in biz last summer). They have also increased their PE seat pitch to a class leading 49 inches.
Free booze, of course, and separate menus.
Depending on the fare class you might be able to upgrade to biz, but the cost is likely to be prohibitive!0
