Hah .. I was charged £11+ (transaction in US dollars originally from Microsoft Direkt - MS Germany I suppose) for this Microsoft Office Live Free service 3 days ago ... details to follow, contacting MS support ..
What were you charged for? The Office Live that you get with a fiver back from Quidco is the Office Live BASICS which does include advertising although it's not really obvious IMHO. You can add paid for services, and if would these will presumably show under My Account / View Details For Your Paid Services. There are other incarnations of Office Live (their whole use of names is all over the place) which are paid for. The freebie one will show as "Microsoft Office Live Basics (UK) with adManager". I've not been charged for mine.
What happens at the end of 2 years remains to be seen.0 -

No I checked this all, it is definitely the "Microsoft Office Live Basics (UK) with adManager" package and I have not added any extras to it. Just Quidco -> Registration, as simple as that. There is no sign of any charges or invoices / e-mail notifications in my account also. I was thinking that my credit card details might have been stolen, but the initiator is "Microsoft Direkt" and the amount matches exactly the service charge for the second, "paid" plan, and happened exactly when it should be for the 2nd plan, 3 months after registration. I think this is an error of MS billing department, but beware ..
Good side - their support is almost instant, I was advised to call their non-stop 0800 line .. will do tonight.
Will keep you updated.0
