Are there several items in the parcel, i.e can it be split into two or more packages? Royal Mail standard Airmail / Surface mail service has a maximum weight limit of 2kg so if you can split the package, it would be a lot cheaper. Anything over this needs to be sent using the more expensive services such as Datapost etc.
If you can't split the parcel, try https://www.parcel2go.com as they offer a world courier service but it's still going to be over £40.0 -
I have used this company before for sending to Australia http://stores.ebay.co.uk/Worldwide-Parcel-Xpress-Ltd they were cheapest I could find but I couldn't get a quote for you size and shape parcel. Might be worth trying your self or contacting them to get a quoteNothing to see here, move along.0

If you split it into a 2kg parcel and 0.8kg parcel then it will cost you bout 15-20quids by royal mail. if you left it as a 2.8kg parcel then you would send it by parcelforce, costing you about £30-40.
That assumes you can split like madtrekker says.0 -

quote 47.01 pounds for this. You don't mention value - they charge 1.5 per cent for insurance - but there is an inbuilt value included (60 pounds per package for the UK but not sure if this stands for international parcels).0
