TV Sky Picture Problem

Hi Everyone,

I was wondering if someone could help me. A year ago I bought a Mirai 522P100 TV but at the start of October it blew up. After waiting months for Mirai to replace it and having to contact them a billion times I've finally got a replacement TV - the Mirai DTL-522P201. They didn't include a power cable with the new TV though so I had to wait another week for them to send that too!

Anyway I've just tried to set it up and I can't get a picture for Sky - I've plugged the scart into Scart 1 but all I'm getting is a blue screen. I don't think the Sky+ box is set to RGB but I can't set it to it as I'm not getting any signal or picture at all. I don't remember having to do anything other than plugging in the Sky+ box to get a picture on the old TV and I can't find the manual for the TV in the house or online. Does anyone have any ideas what I may be doing wrong? I'm praying they've not sent me a duff replacement considering how long it took me to get it in the first place! Thanks for any help.

Regards

Michelle

Can we safely assume that you have the scart lead in to the TV Scart socket on the Sky Box?

Can you make sure that the scart lead is fully pushed in to both the TV and Sky Box.

Can you get a normal TV picture via the aerial?

Can you get a menu up on your screen?

    Hi Inactive,

Thanks for your reply. Yes I had carefully checked the scart lead was in the right place and pushed fully in and I could get a picture with the aerial and a menu. As I was connecting the TV up to the Sky+ box in the bedroom I thought I'd try it on the one in the living room just to be sure it was the TV at fault. When I plugged it into the living room one the picture came up instantly. So I then thought that maybe the scart lead is the problem so I tried that on the living room one too and it still worked fine. I then took it back to the bedroom and tried it again but I still just got the blue screen. So I think the only thing that can be causing the problem is the Sky+ box. It was working fine when hooked up to the old CRT TV we were using while waiting on the TV to be replaced but it was hooked up to that with a plain old RF lead and not a scart so I can only think that the scart socket on the Sky+ box isn't working internally or something. I'll need to call Sky and see what they say I guess. Thanks for your help.

OK, thanks for that, just one thing thing you may try before ringing Sky, does your new TV have an AV Button on the Remote Control?...if yes try pressing it with the Sky Box connected.

Try pressing a few buttons on the Sky Remote as well, usually the top ones.

I very much doubt that there is an actual fault with your Sky Box from what you have said, more likely a setting in the menu/s.

Bare in mind that Sky may charge a call out fee of £65.

Maybe the TV has more than one AV channel and you need to flick through them to get the AV channel you've connected to Sky box to, though should auto-switch if TV reads the signal and the Sky box is set to auto-switch.
It's PAC not PAC Code, it's MAC not MAC Code, it's PIN not PIN Number, it's ATM not ATM Machine, it's LCD not LCD Display, it's DVD not DVD disc... It's no one not noone, It's a lot not alot, It's got not gotten... Panini is the plural of panino - there is no S!!

    Hi Inactve and Bextech,

If by AV button you mean one that changes between all the inputs (TV, scart 1, scart 2, VGA) then yes there is one and I've tried putting it onto all the different ones just in case but the TV automatically scans to Scart 1 when I press the button on the Sky remote to put Sky on so it's not that. As it works perfectly with the Sky box in the living room I just can't see what else can be causing the problem or what else I can try. The Sky+ box was a replacement as the last one blew up with the old TV so it's only been in a few months and there shouldn't be a call-out charge for that as far as I know. Thanks again for the help.

    Regards
