Items not delivered, refund refused

Hi,

Not sure if i'm posting this in the right place and sorry if its a little long

I recently ordered and paid for two pairs of boots. Delivery was attempted but i was not in, i contacted the courier the same day as delivery was attempted, to request a new date 3 days after the original delivery date but was told they would not hold the item this long and it would be returned to the suplier. I requested an alternative delivery address but they refused saying i would need to contact the suplier to arrange this. I contacted the supplier and they advised that i would need to contact the courier, i replied explaining what had happened and they requested i contact them again by phone but i was unable to get through to anyone. This all happened over a period of around a week and a half, so having not recieved the items i assumed they had been returned. I allowed time over xmas to recieve a refund but nothing has been recieved. I have now contacted them again and they are saying the item was delivered and that i should contact the courier quoting the number left on the origional delivery attempt. Unfortunaley i no longer have this and am reluctant to take this up with the courier as i feel this should be their job. I'm thinking my next course of action would be to request a copy of the signature so i can confirm where these items were delivered, is this right or should i be doing something else?

TIA and help greatfully accepted!

Give the courier a call, ask what they did with the parcel. If you won't do this, you are just making things more difficult for yourself ... x

they can trace on name and address on their computer system

if they say they cant thats rubbish

a refrence speeds up things but they have an adresss search like the majority of computer systems do

You do not need to contact the courier, your contract is with the supplier, who they use as a courier is their choice and so so to all intents and purposes it is the supplier themselves doing the delivery.

Just tell them it is a failed delivery and they need to prove delivery, you do not need to prove a non-delivery. Give them 24hrs to either prove a delivery or refund your monies.

No, the OP does not have to contact the courier, but for the sake of getting the situation resolved, it would make sense for them to help themselves and make contact.

By rights though the courier should refuse to deal with the OP, until the parcel is handed over it still belongs to the store. I know most of the time the stores tell us to contact the courier but we are in actual fact contacting about an item we have no legal right to!!! It is an odd situation and one I used to spend an awful lot of my time dealing with and sorting out!!!!

Thanks eveyone for your replies. I have contacted the courier but as i thought they have been unable to track the parcel from my address details, they have advised me to contact the supplier for the tracing number, so i've now done this, hopefully the supplier will provide this.

I know i was reluctent to contact the courier because i didn't feel they could helo but i have found them to be far more helpful than the supplier
