I have a Halogen floor uplighter in my living room which is on about 4 hours a day. This with the current price rises is going to cost alot just to use.
I was wondering if there are any 500w equivalent energy saving lightbulbs or should I ditch my uplighter?
You can replace the bulb with a 300 W - they're the same size.
There are also some premium, improved efficiency, bulbs. I think they are 225 W with the same brightness as 300 W, and 375W with the same brightness as 500 W. You used to be able to get these from B&Q, but I haven't looked recently.0 -
Think the OP means this type...

?? Why not just put a lesser rated bulb in??

I have a 300 watt halogen with a dimmer switch fitted in the lounge ...It only ever goes to 300 for things like threading a needle .
I heard bulbs like that like to start slowly so a dimmer helps prolong the life ...Maybe B/S but my bulb has lasted ages0 -

He can put a smaller bulb in. However, only the 300 and 500 W are the same size (called RX7s).
The 150W are smaller, and won' fit.0 -
BLT-Direct do a range of high output energy saving bulbs. They won't fit your halogen uplighter though.
