IE7 Download

Hi guys, I'm trying to download IE7 as I'm using vista home premium (didn't have a choice, it came with the PC
) but the microsoft site won't let me as it says "Your computer already has Internet Explorer 7. It is included with Windows Vista, the operating system you are running."
There's a link to download it for XP but as IE7 keeps crashing on me I want to uninstall and reinstall.
But there's no entry for IE on the control panel, add and remove programs - so anyone know how I can get IE7 repaired, it was working before but other programs played up so I did a windows reinstall and now IE7 is being awkward.
Before anyone suggests firefox, I've got it but don't find it as easy to use and it seems slow when scrolling down pages and looking at favourite webpages etc
if anyone can help me out, thank you

Thanks - I actually already reset the web settings in IE and windows updates automatically so I'll disable the add-ons and see how that goes - strange there isn't an option to remove it and reinstall!0

You can't uninstall it in the traditional way because vista relies on internet explorer to run, so removing it is virtually impossible. If things get really bad, try using RIES again.
From the Tools menu,
click Internet Options
click Advanced tab,
click the Reset Internet Explorer Settings button.
After RIES has run its course, you will notice that the settings for the browser's home pages, search providers, browsing history, form data, passwords, appearance settings, toolbars and ActiveX controls are reset to their "first-run" states.
It is the last resort, but may be worth a try0 -
It's actually behaving itself now though the sidebar is now taking turns at playing up. But will do the reset again if need be - it's no big deal with losing homepage etc. I can easily reconfigure those.
By the way I like your avatar, I saw someone else on here with Moss on theirs

I wonder which idiot chose that as an avatar.
BTW are you sure IE7 isn't in add/remove programs? Since the change from 6 to 7 the "official" name has changed to "Windows Internet Explorer" and so alphabetically it'd be under the Ws."She is quite the oddball. Did you notice how she didn't even get excited when she saw this original ZX-81?"

Well as Moss and Roy are taken I was going to be Jen, but having spent large parts of my life in computer rooms Richmond seemed more appropriate. It's my problem, it's my problem
If I feel the need to hide
And it's my problem if I have no friends

I think this option is given when you upgrade from IE6, so that you can go back to 6 if you dont like 7. Not sure this is poss if the pc came with 7 installed, just as you cannot get rid of 6 using the control panel with XP.ac's lovechild0 -
Yeah just checked and it's not there under Windows either

Never mind I'll just do another "reset web settings" and if that doesn't work again I'll just restore to factory settings again - the ocmputer is already being slow again and it's only been a month since I restored it :rolleyes:0 -
Why don't you try Firefox or Opera etc? Blue text on this forum usually signifies hyperlinks, so click on them!..:wall:0

I've got firefox but it seems pretty slow and accessing favourite websites etc isn't as easy - it could be an issue of getting used to it but I've been using it for several weeks now and I just don't get on with it

I'll look for this Opera browser and give that a whirl - no compatibility issues are there with running 3 browsers?0
