Yes.....answerphone! We just got through to one person who said that becuase of insurance they couldn't touch another system and the only people who would touch it would be the people that fitted it but we don't know who that is!0 -

The lcd display is blank and we have no idea what the code is (we're in rented accomodation and our landlady doesn't know either). We're rang ADT and they've been most unhelpful, telling us that there's nothing they can do until 9am tomorrow morning.
We just want to shut the thing off, does anyone have any suggestions? We can't afford the £150 to call an engineer out! HELP! ITS DRIVING US NUTS!
Is the mains power on or off ( in your home and/or alarm unit ) ?
If the mains power on - is there power to the main alarm unit ( ideally should be fed off a fused spur so the fuse might have blown ? ) NB:- Not the keypad, but the main unit.
I had a similar incident in the summer:-
Mains power went off and alarm sounded ( as it should due to "tamper" settings - i.e. cut mains power and it thinks it has been compromised ). The main unit ( and alarm box outside ) is backed up with a lead-acid type battery - but the main one had failed ( had been in there 7 years ) - so no display on keypad and no way of entering code. The alarm sounded for 20mins ( default setting as per law ) and then stopped. However, everytime the Electric Company attempted to reconnect and hence "flickered" the mains - the alarm went off again ( twice upto 11pm - OMG !!!). Finally, the mains came back on - BUT I had to download the manual and use the engineer settings to disable the alarm.
Ordered a new battery and fitted it a few days later - had to reset all of the zones and change all the default settings - any good "complete" manual will show you how to do this and conduct a "walkthrough" test.“That old law about 'an eye for an eye' leaves everybody blind. The time is always right to do the right thing.”0 -

That's a tough one. ADT should be able to tell you who installed it, but they will probably only tell the person who has/had a contract with them.
Do you know whether your landlady still has a contract with ADT? If so, they (ADT) have got to be your best hope.0 -
We Did It! We Managed To Get Through To Someone Who Talked Us Through How To Disable It Over The Phone For Free! All The Had To Do Was Disconnect The Battery And Remove The Fuse.0
