Just had my poor opinion of Barclays reinforced. Tried to make payment to Monument (Barclays) credit card without the pre-printed credit slip but with all nec info i.e sort code, Barclays a/c number, and the credit card number.
The teller at the branch said I couldn't as -
she didn't have the relevant credit slip with code for Monument
she was of the belief that Monument was not a Barclays card despite me showing her the info on the statement which stated it was
I could only pay to the account by telephone banking or through the post
I was astounded. She consulted a few of her colleagues who proved as ignorant, and then suggested I call tel banking and sort it out there. Mr Thick on tel banking kept saying I couldn't make a tel payment as the card was not registered for tel banking. :wall: NOT THE POINT!!!
Anyway, long and short of it, the teller supervisor had to be called to resolve this simple issue, and payment eventually made. However, will have to be extra vigilant to make sure was in fact credited to account. Good grief, and these are the people we trust with our money.
