M&S More Card and HSBC

I read somewhere that the M&S More card is actually part of the HSBC group. If I already have a M&S More card, does this mean that I won't be able to get a credit card with HSBC?

You won't be able to transfer a balance from M&S to HSBC although, strangely, no such restriction applies the other way.0 -
I wonder if that's why I was refused a card by HSBC last week! First time I've ever been refused too
