car air con problem

Car, Mazda 626: the air con has packed up, can anyone advise please?
Have been boiled these last few days, so used to being able to cool the car down immediately.
Car is 6 years old, so maybe not able to fix, don't know much about the system to be truthful.
Any advice would be gratefully received, i can't afford to pay much to have it fixed.

It may be that the system needs re-gassing, I had this done recently on a Fiat and it cost £99.00. I saw an ad in the local paper for an independant garage and they were quoting a similar price.

Check if local Mazda dealer has any 'special' air con service offer.
If not, as previous post, plenty independent specialists now appearing.
Air con is proving verrrrrrry popular & they'll be busy in the next couple of years, 'cos people will forget to use their system all year round - keeping it working properly, that way!!
