MS/Flight sim X/graphics

My system.
XP
MB Asrock conroe 865PE memory 2gb ddr
graphics geforce 6200 256mb.
Getting better fps with this card but still range from 4-18 on a good day.So can anybody offer some advice on which AGP card (1.5volt) will improve up to a possible 30 fps or is it throw away the mb and start again and go pci/e graphics.Gather some agp cards are quite good but not sure which.
Any help appreciated.
Thanks

Not quite sure what your last sentance meant but a guess is that you are playing flight sim 2004 seems the most popular one on the forums.

  • Banger,
just had a look at the 512 MSI 7600 GS card it appears to be a 3.3 volt card no good for my conroe which only takes 1.5
Can't see the other one as it is in a box.
So will have to keep looking

    the 2600xt is very good.
for older ones (cheaper but hard to get now) try the x850 or a 9800 pro.
    try ebay?
the 7600gt is very good too.
    Get some gorm.
  • I'd start thinking about a total upgrade, your cpu won't be doing you any favours.

I don't think there is a PC in the World which can run Flight Sim X at the highest levels of detail with a decent FPS.

All about budget, if you can upgrade the whole PC, even spending £800 will be a dissappointment running Flight Sim X

Best short term is the graphics card but don't expect wonders using the cards mentioned so far (even though they are good for your system)

jump on ebay and look out for a 6800gt or ultra, they start about £25 and in most cases are as fast or faster than the other cards sudgested.

spend the diff on a real cpu.
