I have a problem with my tomtom 700.
I wanted to download north america so purchased it on the tomtom website.
I needed to copy western europe file from my tomtom to my computer as there was not enough room for both.
I downloaded the nort america maps through tomtom home after it taken an age it finally completed.
I then disconnected my tomtom and switched it on and is says "no maps found"
I have checked the contents on tomtom home and on the actual drive itself and there is a file called north america with lots of files in it but for some reason when I switch the tomtom on it doesnt find it.
can anyone help .....PLEASE.

Have you transfered the map to the unit?
It isnt just a case of downloading the map off the internet.
As for the map they are usually in a folder North_America for example you copy the folder to the tom tom storeage I do it that way it is easier than useing the TT home software. I think north america l is about 1GB in size so should easily fit on a 700 as it has a 2.5GB hard drive in there. I cant remember the size of WE but UK + major roads of WE is about 200mb.
if you dont copy the folder over it wont find the files it needs especially if you have hide hidden/system files switched on.0 -
Thanks I think I have sorted it. i needed to down load tomtom 700 update - so I have north america working now.
the file i downloaded for north america was 1.9gb
I wish i could fit both on it would save me alot of faffing about!0 -
i could fit just uk and ireland on but the only one i have is full western europe and i begrudge having to pay another 30 quid for uk and ireland0
