Waitrose, Brittania Parking
Our local Waitrose brought in Brittania parking about a month ago (and fired the previous car parking attendants but that is another story).
We have a car that is leased via our company, so the company is the hirer. I am well versed in the hirer liability vs the leasing company's inability to provide the signed agreement that the hirer takes on the responsibility of any PCNs due to GDPR.
However, I have applied Plan A and e-mailed the CEO's office at Waitrose to get the PCN cancelled. The maximum duration of parking is 1.5 hours and the driver parked the vehicle for 1h50m. I have pointed out that this is a new regime, the signs are too small and too high (confirmed on a recent visit on foot), and that I (the company owner) have a Waitrose card and have supplied them with the card number.
The response I got from the CEO's office included this:
"I am sorry to learn one of your employees received a parking fine while parked at our [!!!!] on 4th October 2026. So we can look into this further, please can you ask the driver to contact us directly with his either his MyWaitrose card number, receipt or copy of the Waitrose transaction on his bank statement."
I'm guessing that I am OK to supply this information as it is not to Brittania and presumably Waitrose won't pass on this information to Britannia.
(Their assumption that the driver is he/his is a different issue.)
To make it clear, Mrs Fandango and I are the directors of the company and the only employees.

Just reply and supply that info yourself and say the company is the recipient of the PCN so the company is handling the matter.
Therefore the driver will not be required to contact Waitrose for fear they will divulge that person's name to Britannia, which would be unauthorised data sharing. Unless Waitrose promises not to share driver details with Britannia then Waitrose should consider the attached anonymised evidence of shopping.
(Attach the bank statement with name and account number & balance redacted).
PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

Did exactly as you suggested and today received an e-mail saying that "on this occasion" the parking charge has been cancelled. Thank you again for your help, Plan A saves the day again.

Well done!
Under the "material change" clause in the joint COP, they shouldn't be sending out pcn's for the first four months anyway!
