Rise and reclining beds for elderly
My 90 year old mother can still get out of bed on her own but it's a struggle. I'm looking into rise and reclining beds but don't know where to start. The prices seem to range from £500 - £10000+. I just want something straightforward, functional and comfortable for her to be able to use.
Can anyone recommend any decent and well-priced brands?

£500 seems too cheap - we paid more than that for our standard bed.

If there is a physical showroom nearby that sells them, I would suggest actually going to try because physical size is going to matter here - the height of the bed, how easy your Mum finds it to swing herself around, that sort of thing. And some of them move in different ways.
Alternatively , see if she can get an OT assessment, although unless she pays privately there’s likely to be a waiting list for that. All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well.

Before spending a considerable amount of money, I'd suggest contacting your local council's Adult Social Care team and requesting an Occupational Therapy assessment. They can assess what equipment would help your mother, and suitable beds may be supplied on loan at no cost.
Start by establishing whether the mother's problem is sitting up, turning towards the edge of the bed or standing once seated. Those are different problems, and the answer could range from an inexpensive adaptation to a fully adjustable care bed.

A lot depends on why she is struggling. Which particular part is weak. It's worth watching to see.
You haven't said she has trouble getting into bed so could it just be when she's sleepy on waking? It would be worth speaking to a physiotherapist, ask before you book, a consultation should be around £60.
That would decide what she would need by way of a bed. Height is important. , the mattress height should be level with the knees so it's easy to sit on the edge with feet firmly on the floor so trying some out would be a good idea. Make a day of it with tea and cake.
But £500 way too cheap . Is the remote easy to reach should she need to get up in the middle of the night and is it comfortable for her to control?
Got to say I'm not near that age but I fancy one for reading in bed 😊
I can rise and shine - just not at the same time!

You might find a bargain on FB marketplace or eBay but be mindful of the advice above re whether it suits her particular needs.
