None Of these private parking companies make anything easy, they deliberately try to trip people up, or fail, in order to send out 17 million pcns per annum, its all about profit !

Your husband is not right at all, do not pay them a penny, especially if you were not driving

    OTHER was the correct choice

Because you were not the driver you have NO LEGAL LIABILITY whatsoever. !

These are some of where the faults lie

    1. Times24 should have in your face prominent signs
    2. Times24 should have adequately illuminated signs, for when its dark ( lighting. )
    3. The DRIVER should have checked the signs because the driver is responsible and carries the legal liability

Of course they don't make it easy there is no money in that, as Gr1pr stated this air airport land covered by bye-laws they cannot issue a private parking charge to the keeper.

Why would he think of paying scammers that do not keep to any rules themselves and love the fact the car was parked there as it makes you a target for more money.

  • Thanks for your comments it really is appreciated. I think my husbands point is it’s causing me stress when I am already in poor health so paying it would remove the stress of the situation.

There's no stress - you cannot be liable.

Send an appeal stating that you were not the driver and that you will not be providing driver details in a situation where the law does not require it.

But if anybody is liable to actually pay Times24, its the driver, not the passenger. !

But we would suggest that YOU stick to our experienced advice, because its not your problem

If the driver had also filled up the vehicle on the way out and drove off without payment, VARS TECHNOLOGY might send you a bill for £100, but why would you pay it if it was nothing to do with you as keeper. ?

One option would be to name the driver and let them argue it out, leaving you out of the picture. !

I am sorry to hear that you have health issues, but that doesn't mean that you should pay opportunists looking to punish people for minor errors, just because they can only obtain vulnerable keeper details ( and not the drivers details. )

Ps, the Gatwick website says this

All our Official Long Stay car parks are well-lit, security fenced and regularly patrolled by London Gatwick security

Your husband is wrong. Nobody pays Times24. But can we get this straight?

In your OP (and above) you tell us:

"I was not the driver at the time"

But umpteen times you have also typed "I parked". Which is true?

I wasn't suggesting you transfer liability to your husband (certainly not, if he's one of those people who think these have to be paid).

I am suggesting you tell them you weren't the driver, therefore there is no liability. However, I hope you didn't use the phrase "I parked" in your appeal, like you did here?

PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

  • Thanks for that, I can see your point. It should have said we rather than I. I wasn’t the driver, nor did I have a valid booking in my name for that carpark as it was booked by the person using my vehicle at the time. I’m definitely not going to name the driver either
