Welcome to the 1p Challenge board! Start your own thread to track your savings and share your progress with other MoneySavers.

Choose one of our ready-made savings charts and copy it into your opening post. As you save, edit your post and use strikethrough to cross out each amount. The counter above your post will show how much you’ve saved so far.

Our step-by-step guide is coming soon. In the meantime, read about how the 1p Challenge works.

1. Choose a chart and cross off your savings

Pick a chart and paste it into your first post. Each time you put money aside, edit that post and cross out the matching amount using the editor’s strikethrough button. Your savings counter will add up the crossed-out amounts.

2. Skip the chart and write it down

Use your first post as a savings diary. Edit it to add an update whenever you save, for example:

“Resisted a takeaway today — +£12.50 in the savings pot!”

Put +£ directly before each new amount you save so the counter knows to count it. You can chat around it as much as you like!

Add each saving once. If you’ve already crossed it off on a chart, typing it with +£ as well will count it twice.

Keep your savings updates in your first post — that’s the one the counter reads. Replies are perfect for cheering each other on.
