God it is good to talk isn't it? I only have this problem if I wear pyjamas coz of my night sweats. But yes it is nice to know other people have this problem too. Thanks to the OP for the post/honesty.
Maybe its just all that decluttering going on, we're all building up a sweat!:p0 -

This is a problem I had with DH(Cotton) shirts when he wore "conventional" antiperspirant/deoderant, now that he uses my home made stuff we don't have a problem.
To de-stink the item in question, after washing & drying ( but before ironing) dab surgical spirit around the area, let this air dry, then iron as normal.
This works very well, it is also a little known trick used in both the Theatre and Fancy Dress hire shops ( not all fancy dress items can be washed YUCK!!)
But it is an ideal soloution ( pardon the pun!) to sort out any smelly arm-pit items.0 -
I suspect that those items of clothing which pong a bit, are those washed at lower temperatures.
BO is caused by bacteria and washing needs to be done at a certain temperature in order to kill the bacteria.
But, obviously, you'll need to be careful washing at a higher temp with certain fabrics and those items which are not colour fast.
Not a solution - sorry - but just a possible explanation.
Actually - a suggestion. Try soaking the item in a mild ACE bleach solution (which is safe for just about all colours & fabrics) or even neat ACE on the armpit area.

Tango, thank you so much for asking this question, I am VERY paranoid over BO (my mom was & still is a bit OCD with cleanliness, & it was drilled into us that to smell of it was VERY embarrasing) but a few close fitting tops have always been a bit niffy, no matter how much deoderant I put on myself & them, you've definately saved me a few quid :TThis is a problem I had with DH(Cotton) shirts when he wore "conventional" antiperspirant/deoderant, now that he uses my home made stuff we don't have a problem.

I wonder if deoderant can make you smell ??Obstacles are things a person sees when he takes his eyes off his goal.0 -
I have some clothes under the arm that have gone yellow and its gone hard (yuk), I do wear deoderant, I shower everyday, I can't understand why?"Wisdom doesn't automatically come with old age. Also certain fabrics smell more, and maybe we smell differently because of what we eat,and if not well..
I do think that dedorant may sometimes make it worse though ?Obstacles are things a person sees when he takes his eyes off his goal.0
