Ok why is it that certain tops smell more than others,I have a lovely top that I wear just as much as others yet this one has started to smell in the armpit bit
even after washing.

make a paste of bicarb with water and smear over the armpit area of the top, leave it for a little while and wash as normal. You could add vinegar (white) to the wash as well both will help get rid of the bacterial smell but vinegar isn't so good on it's own.0

Soak in a bucket with some stardrops overnight.0

We've (DH and I) found that certain fabrics react more than others (man made rather than cotton). Also, DH and fabric conditioner doesn't mix, resulting in bad smelling clothes!
So, now we use white vinegar for fabric conditioner, also if armpits do get a bit whiffy spraying them with a 50/50 mix of white vinegar and water before washing the clothes does the trick at getting rid of the smell.GC - March 2024 -0 -

I bought a few tshirts from primark in the summer that were cut very tight under the arms. They really stank after I got anyway warm at all when wearing them. TBH I tried most of the tips on here and ended up dumping them cos nothing worked. It was very odd cos I very rarely smell of sweat, even at the gym when I am sweating, yet with these tops on I smelt within a couple of hours, even when I was just out of the shower.
TBH I'd say get rid cos it also 'infects' other clothes if you wear them on top.0 -
