Chase Bank Account
Have a Chase Bank account for about a year and all seemed well until a friend sent me £30 from her business account. The money was held up until I explained what is was and from who. After a day nothing so telephoned as messaging is just digital. It appears that my friend and I were obviously suspects in an international laundering scam using £30 (thirty) as an initial payment. I finally got the payment 4 days later after profuse apologies but I was not pleased. It wasn't critical to me but I did not like the idea of randomly stopping receipts and then several days delay after an explanation. I am currently in the process of switching to another bank.

I'd be asking my friend who else she has been doing business with via that account (or indeed via her personal account).

This can / will happen at any bank you switch to due to their money laundering/KYC rules
Sam Vimes' Boots Theory of Socioeconomic Unfairness:
People are rich because they spend less money. A poor man buys $10 boots that last a season or two before he's walking in wet shoes and has to buy another pair. A rich man buys $50 boots that are made better and give him 10 years of dry feet. The poor man has spent $100 over those 10 years and still has wet feet.

Just be aware if you leave Chase you can never go back to them (appreciate you may not currently be bothered) but just something to consider as it's specific in their conditions.
Agree this could have happened with any bank

I'd be pleased they are checking random things.

Why would you be pleased and why do you think these checks are random?

Why would you be pleased about that?

A bank who doesn't do random checks would be a fraudsters paradise, for obvious reasons. We should naturally be pleased that random checks will contribute to the vast majority of customers enjoying uninterrupted banking services.

Those reasons aren't obvious to me (a bit like saying that unless the police randomly arrest people the country would become a paradise for criminals). Perhaps you could list a few.
