Can't close a card

Has anyone else had problems with trying to close a credit card? It is a Royal Bank of Scotland balance transfer card that I have paid off in full a few days ago. The balance does show as zero.

If I try to close through the mobile app, I get a Submit button, but when I click on it the button does change to the same button but with a border but nothing else happens.

If I try using a browser most of the information comes pre-filled but the box asking for the last digits is blank initially and clicking in it does not let me enter numbers.

I can try using Chat and speaking to someone, but I would prefer to do it myself if I can get a method to work.

You almost certainly need to wait for a statement to be issued at zero balance not just the balance on the card being currently zero.

Why the panic to shut it in a rush?

When the card is cleared and no trailing interest is found (just in case), some bank apps will close a card just by asking the chatbot

Certainly true when I tried to close a Virgin card recently. No problem after zero statement issued.

Makes sense. Not panicking, I just like toiler things up so I don't have to think of them again.

And I wouldn't have been concerned at all if the app had given a response. It's annoying when something shows signs of working and does not actually do so

Your post certainly didn't come across as any form of panicking, sometimes posters seem to portray their own feelings.
