MSE Collective 2025
For those that signed up to the British Gas Collective Nov25 (advertised by MSE Cheap Energy Club), the fix is approaching the end. What are your plans? Another fix with BG, a different provider fix, or the variable rate?
I can’t quite decide but leaning towards another fix - likely BG. They say if they have a lower fix during the term (23 months) you can switch for free.
And I presume if I lock in now I lose the last month of cheaper rates. But I guess there is the danger the fix I’m looking at could go up. Decisions, decisions.

I thought if you were in the 7 week notice window the internal switches - maybe more accurately renewals of whatever they are called - delayed until end of term by default.
Can anyone actively switching these days confirm that ?
But to be fair its about 6 years - since did fixes for my parents and a sibling.
I cannot fix on my old legacy tariff (E10)

Please check - or wait for an other who has done so recently.
Its been a long time since used it

Having checked with BG, the new tariff will start the day after selected so will cut short the current tariff. Will have to decide whether to wait it out and risk rates going up, or dive in and lose the last month of my current deal.

I'm on the save collective switch tariff…I don't know what to do…the increases are quite terrifying. Any advice would be appreciated.

I believe the price cap for January is formally announced on 25th November so I might hold out until just before that date and then fix. Hopefully the renewal fix I have been offered won’t go up in the mean time and I will be able to make use of my current rates for a little longer. This could backfire of course….
I did a price comparison but moving supplier will only save me a few pounds (literally) so I’ll likely just stay with BG and hope my surplus credit gets me through the winter.
Seeing unit rates nearly double is rather depressing though!
