Chosing between 2 laptops -ACER or HP- (models in the post, read on..)
Chosing between these 2 laptops below.
Here are points:
Would like it to have a RAM of 32 RAM
Uses for it?
- It wont really be used for heavy gaming.
- browing online, youtube, report creating,
- video/photo creation/ and editing
- Don't mind spending extra £
- The HP one only has 1 USB(A), and No Hdmi port
Might wait until black Friday, to get reduction.

a) From my list above, which would you recommend? and why?
b) There are not many reviews on the Acer one. Should that be concerning?
c) Have anyone here got them exact models, and can share their insight ?
d) HP Omnibus - was released July 2025
Acer Swift Go 16 AI Copilot, released in March 2026
Does the fact the acer is 8 months new, make much difference to the performance, or up to date apps/technology?
e) If wait until Black friday, is there a big change there will be a reduction in the both? if so, how much %% ? possibly ?
f) any other opinions, or ideas? / alternatives (with 32 RAM)
or input from yourselves, is appreciated, thanks.
The HP one only has 1 USB(A), and No Hdmi port
EDIT - ADDED:
Can get a Desktop MINI PC 'and' a Laptop too..
I was thinking of actually doing this, getting BOTH a desktop (mini pc) AND a laptop too
-so I would have both devices., but would want to use both for video ediding, although most can be done on the mini pc desktop I suppose, as an idea ?
EDIT ADDED [PART 2]:
Another Idea is get a Mini PC, with Ram 32GB, or even 64GB ram, and get a laptop of 16GB Ram, use the Mini PC, as the operating system for the video stuff, to do all the heavy loading
… but connect it to the laptop so the Laptop screen sees everything that the mini PC sceen sees. (using Chrome Remote, or similar connecting software)
Basically use the laptop as a 2nd screen, and use that, and the benefit with this laptop option be I can use this in any room of the house,- but it will be mirroring what is on the laptop.
What do you think ?

b) No.
d) no. All consumer bought hardware (laptop or build desktop) is always months out of date. The mentioned Snapdragon was released in 2024. The intel mentioned depending on the model was released 2023-2026.
e) no guarantee either model will still be available on Black Friday and no guarantee it will be discounted either.

- It won't really be used for heavy gaming.
This sentence doesn't make much sense since the answer is really yes or no. That said the Acer even for light or mid tier gaming is vastly superior due to the CPU & iGPU architecture in both compatibility and outright power. Too many games may not run at all due to the anti-cheat software used and the ones that do may be using power sapping compatibility features.
- browsing online, youtube, report creating,
Irrelevant as even my mobile phone can do all of that flawlessly.
- video/photo creation/ and editing
Again, the Acer due to the same considerations as for gaming.
The only reason to choose the HP is if battery life was the be-all and end-all consideration.

Both seems expensive. I am not keen on the snapdragon processor as the have been compatibility issues. AMD or Intel. I went for an oiled 4k display and that’s really nice. The ASUS I have was around £850 and is AMD based,32g, 1tb and super fast. The down side no metal case, no hdmi cable and limited USB ports. The latter solved by an adapter.
it’s nice the ram and storage is on sockets so can be upgraded.0 -
Video editing on a laptop??? Laptops tend to get hot and slow down the processing speed, would you not be better using a desktop for that.
I have a Dell laptop and a Dell desktop. Both similar specification, the desktop is generally far faster than the laptop, that is just the nature of the beast.

Although I was planning to also get a Mini PC (desktop),, so I would have a MINI PC, and a Laptop too.
If I was going to get both, perhaps get the Desktop MINI PC 32RAM, and Also get a laptop too, of slightly lower spec?
just as to your Dell set up?

I watch a number of YouTubers that edit their stuff on a laptop (probably Apple, mind)
Similarly, seen people buy gaming laptops. Guy at work bought one with your budget a couple of years ago and does both gaming and video editing on it. Never heard him complain about heat issues. I've no idea what budget it would be now, though

There are "gaming" laptops at a lot more money than my "office" laptop and desktop PC. My Dell laptop is a Vostro (now discontinued small business laptop, lower cost than the Latitude range) with 8 GB of RAM, i5 processor. The desktop is an Optiplex vPro, 16 GB RAM, i5 processor. Both are pretty standard office/commercial equipment.
Most of us buy laptops for a long run time on battery power, and convenience to use on a casual basis away from a desk. All laptops used without a docking station or external keyboard to give a raised screen, are an ergonomic disaster, use one for any length of time and you will get back and neck ache. Yes they are convenient but that convenience has its limitations.
