Surprised trading 212 and nationwide do not communicate,

HI. I have been looking around to move my isa from Trading 212, currently paying me 3.6%. the first thing to do was to get it out of trading 212 which is easier said than done. The one thing that really surprised me here, was that two major players- trading 212 and nationwide do not communicate. I could not transfer my isa from trading 212 to nationwide on line. So, I had to go to the branch, and with the cashiers help fill in several forms the old way with pen and paper. I find all this quite unbelievable in this day n age.

That is down to Trading 212. Theres a list on the nationwide site of providers who do allow online transfers:

When I first took out an ISA with trading 212 I did not realise there are hoops to jump through if you wish to transfer. I won't use them in future.

    Not Specfic to Trading 212.

Nationwide does not appear to have automated online transfer system for any Investment platforms hosting stocks and shares ISAs, just the traditional banks and building societies providing cash ISAs.

I had no issue in transferring my S&S ISA from 212 to J P Morgan

I have had issues transferring T212 cash ISA out to another provider, and it seems the main difficulty is T212 and their lack of co-operation, yet one bank couldn't work it at all (can't remember now who) and Charter Savings did, though it took a long time.

I've had two positive transfers both out and back into T212 now, transfer out to Zopa 12 months since and then this week back into T212 this week. Both times completed in a couple of working days with minimal fuss.

The only issue I have had was Zopa don't allow partial transfers so I have had to transfer the balance from Zopa to T212. Then move the amount I wanted from my T212 cash to my stocks and shares ISA and then now I can transfer the remaining balance in the cash ISA side back out if I want to.

It's much less unbelievable when you understand that there are various different systems that are used to transfer ISAs and not every provider supports every type.

It is generally the receiving providers limitation if they cannot perform a transfer for you, in this case Nationwide could, with a transfer form, whereas other providers' can cope with it without such a fallback.

Moved my Trading 212 isa to Natwest, need to call Natwest as Trading 212 was not listed.

They said tick other box and then something else on the next page, entered Trading 212 as isa holder and off it went.

2 day later a pop up appeared in the Trading 212 app.

I clicked ok and that was the isa transferd.

    The title is highly misleading.

No fan of Nationwide but clearly they do communicate if you've successfully transferred funds between Nationwide and Trading 212.

They do yes. but I had to take my account and sort code details for both parties, along with my driving license to the nationwide branch. when I mentioned trading 212 it all went quite, and i was waiting for the gestapo to walk in. I then had to fill out several forms, the old fashioned way, with pen n paper! any way its all sorted now, life goes on.
