These companies prey on the vulnerable, they prey on those who are not informed, they prey on those who make simple mistakes.

For your piece of mind, this is how you can get a CCJ (county court Judgement) that affects your credit rating for 6 years.

First of all someone can take you to court, saying you owe them money, or have caused them a loss and or damages, i could say that by reading this you have caused me a loss of £100, of course thats nonsense and wouldn't stand in court but you should get the idea from that nonsense statement

Stage1: you get a letter saying you owe someone /something money

2: you ignore - with parking company issues you should nip this in the bud as soon as possible

3: you get a follow-up, possibly adding more charges

4 you continue to ignore

5 you receive a letter before action/letter before claim, you ignore it

6 you receive court papers - you ignore them

7a As you have not submitted a defence and have ignored everything you lose in court with a default judgement and it is deemed you owe the money

8a You ignore the demands to pay and fail to pay for more than 30 days

9a Congratulations you now have a CCJ

Optional outcomes:

7b You submitted a weak defence and lose in court, if you then pay, the CCJ doesnt stick, you have no lasting CCJ

8b You begrudgingly pay within 30 days, the CCJ doesnt stick, no lasting CCJ

9b You find out you have a CCJ, you ignored the documents because they were sent to the wrong address and you never received them, if this happens you can apply for a set aside as long as the case is defendable ( in almost all parking cases it is) This can cost, but if you play things right you can recover those costs

the CCJ is wiped if it goes back to court and you win, if you lose then ( as far as i know) the 30 day clock starts ticking to pay, No lasting CCJ

CCJs dont just magically appear, there are a lot of steps to go through before anything can stick, and those steps are entirely in your control.
