Does the battery life reduction apply to SOH? Can you quote the sources? Over what period of time was that 20% degradation, and how much use per day? Testing of any degradation should be fairly easy, so I'd assume those that are claiming such figures have done so.

OP, might be worth getting a battery installed, charging it up overnight on the cheap rate, then using it through the day for the house. The average house uses about 7kwh a day so anything around that size would help. I don't know enough about it, but a buddy of mine reckons he has gone from an electric bill of £250 a month to minus £80 a month with solar panels, battery storage, 2 EV's, and selling back to the grid when he can.
