Hi,
I went to my bank today (Halifax) to do an indemnity claim for 3 unauthorised direct debits.
The lady at the bank was very nice, took my details and the transactions, and told me that i was entitled to an immediate refund then they could claim the funds back from the company.
I left the bank quite pleased, being reassured that the money would be back in almost immeditely, 4 hours later and it still hasnt been done.
Should i go back and ask whats going on? Bearing in mind she was the one who told me it would be done immediately.
Thanks,

Do Halifax have real time transactions?
The clerk that does the work has to look up all three debits, obtain the individual reference numbers, fill out a load of paperwork and pass on to a supervisor to sign off on. Immediate doenst mean there and then. It means when they do the work. The work may be later today but it can also mean a couple of days if it is passed to a central unit to process.I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA). Not to worry, it can take up to 48 hours to credit your account.
What she meant by immediately is that the bank is going to refund you within 48 hours and they will then go and get the money from those companies after. (Ie Giving you your moneyback even though they havent got it back themselves from those companies yet).
Hope this helps.0 -
cheers for this guys, the only reason i ask is because she said they will refund me immediately, she even said "well, once i get over to the counter so 10 minutes or so".
I will give it a couple days, i dont mind waiting just wish they would give you correct information :rolleyes:0
