eBay refund but missing parcel turned up

Hello

I ordered 2 items from the same seller on eBay and he used simple eBay delivery and on the day of delivery I had an email from both evri and eBay to say both where out for delivery however only one item was delivered and i asked the driver he told that's all he was given so I then contacted the seller who never got back to me so I then contact evri and I had an email on Saturday from them stating that the parcel is unaccounted for and to contact eBay so I did I opened a case with eBay as eBay has marked both of them as delivered and evri gave me the delivery photo to prove only one was delivered and then this morning I had an email from eBay saying my case is now closed and even though the tracking says delivered they have refunded me out of courtesy. However this afternoon evri has just delivered my other parcel and he said if they gave you a refund just keep it and keep your money they'll never know.

However this feels wrong so I wanted to know what do I do , I will need to contact eBay again but what will happen? Or will they tell me to keep it? I'm not sure what to do hubby is saying keep it too but I don't like that I don't want it coming back to us if eBay find out. How would they get the money back anyway? I am keeping my parcel though.

Where do I go from here

The usual with Ebay simple delivery items delivered after refund is that you keep the item, no further action required. They usually state this in their comms.

I can't find that all that keeps coming up is that if they ever found out they could class it as fraud ect and that I should contact them to let them know which is what I was going to do once the refund is in my account as I don't have the funds now for them to take the money back. But your saying to listen to hubby and the evri guy to keep both? I won't legally get in trouble? eBay does already have it marked as delivered before they refunded me

  • Contact eBay via the original complaint. It happened to us, and they told us to keep it since it was only a £2 item.

i then contacted the seller and offered to send the £2 back to the seller, they thanked me for the gesture and told me to keep it."

It wouldn't for some reason let me email them through the original complaint anyway I went on a live chat with them and explained in detail and showed proof it arrived after the refund was issued and I was told to keep the refund and that I'm covered I don't need to worry.

I would defo contact the seller to advise. Too many people these days are deliberately scamming retailers on Ebay or Amazon. Nice to hear someone being honest for a change.

Seller wouldn't help me when I wanted to know where it was said as he used eBay simple delivery it was eBay who I had to ask which is why I opened a case yesterday and it's eBay who refunded me as a courtesy so I think the seller still has his money anyway as eBay refunded me not the seller and he told me not to message again just get eBay to sort it so I'm not contacting him again. eBay I have just spoken with and they have said I can keep the refund and thanked me for being honest with them.

I just couldn't listen to hubby saying keep it I'd rather eBay know and then let them make the decision.

With simple delivery it is ebay who arrange the carriage so all the seller does is drop off the parcel. Any messages from the buyer are intercepted by ebay and the seller is told 'we are working with the buyer'.

Once despatched the seller has nothing to worry about, unless there is a claim for faulty before despatch or not as described.

But it's well worth having a record that the package only came into your possession AFTER you were refunded, it just protects you in case you need to make a claim in the future.
