Building insurance: Ive just noticed my Statement of Fact is incorrect!

What exactly do you mean by a minor flood?

I had to change the lounge carpet. No other damage was caused.
Ive since installed a flood defence door and flood barrier.
The property in question is my rental property, which I plan to sell. Does that change things?
Ive looked at the insurers website, and they do say they will consider insuring properties with a history of flooding.

Is a flood from water getting into a property from outside like a river or a burst pipe in the property that caused a flood indoors?
Do they both count as as flooding or does the insurance question just mean outside?

Flooding is from outside the property, though normally excludes rising ground water too. A burst pipe within the property is escape of water instead

Its surface water from the road that caused the flood.
It asks the question about has there been a flood within the property boundary within past 10 years.

Property boundary?
So that means the land that is on the title deeds?
So you could have a very large bit of land that flooded but be 100's of metres from you dwelling and that classed as flooding to the property?

ultimately have to answer the question as asked… certainly some will ask about flooding to the land and not just the building but they may then ask further questions as to where the flooding was

I dont know what to do. If I try and do the right thing and contact them to correct the declaration, theyll surely to void me.

Call them asap as if you leave it and then in the unfortunate event you need to make a claim they could not payout because of it but someone with more insight of this will put me and you right.

But if I do tell them I wont be able to get insurance anyway. I want to do the right thing. It was my mistake, a stupid mistake. But it was a mistake. I simply spent a few hundred on a new carpet. 10 months later when the renewal came up I should have absolutely checked all the questions and put Yes to "Has the property flooded?". I think Im so used to nothing changing that I didnt give it much thought, and then the following renewal etc just kept going.
