Non Stop Fake McAfee Pop-Ups
I am attempting to use my Samsung laptop (Windows 11) to browse the internet. However, I am getting non stop fake McAfee pop-ups on the righthand side of the screen. There are 3 of them there now and every few minutes I get a large pop-up in the middle of the screen. The pop-ups all tell me, using various different wording, that my computer is infected with viruses/trojans etc.
I have done a full system scan using Bitdefender and that tells me that my computer is clean. I have deleted my browsing history and searched my downloads for anything suspicious. Again, nothing untoward. Please can someone tell me how to stop these annoying malicious pop-ups?

Check your start up apps first and then if nothing is there factory reset the browser(s) you use. it's probably from a browser notification you've given permission for but check start up apps first.

Have you tried (free) ADWCleaner?

I searched under ''apps'' for start up apps, then I searched ''Samsung apps'' and that's when I saw ''notifications''. I found notification settings for ''japhaged dot co dot in''. I switched off 4 settings for this unknown email address and I am hoping that this will stop the fake pop-ups. The japhaged email address appeared on a lot of the pop-ups. I never did see any start up apps. Anyway, thanks for pointing me in right general direction. The pop-ups have stopped!

I haven't tried (free)ADWCleaner but I will do. There are loads of adware cleaners but I never know if these can be trusted. They could well be fake and infect my computer. The fake pop-ups appear to be coming from India, ''japhaged dot co dot in''. I will try ADWCleaner. Thanks.

The OP has almost certainly visited a website that persuaded them to click Allow when asked for permission to send notifications. That website can then send alarming messages to the Windows notification area, even when the offending website is no longer open.
Check browser settings for web-sites allowed to send notifications and delete any you don't recognise.

I don't recall visiting a website that asked me for permission to send me notifications. The fake McAfee pop-ups started after I clicked onto a post on Facebook. I had been reading genuine posts by Rottweiler dog owners / breeders. Then I was caught off guard by a post, with a photo showing a woman about to be dragged down some garden steps, by her dog. There was no video to watch. I am convinced that this is where the problem started.

Did you check browser settings for web-sites allowed to notify

Yes, I checked them and it was the first one on the list of 'Notifications' that was the problem. I have now switched off notifications from japhaged dot co dot in.

Answer to your question how to stop this is don't use Facebook full stop
Yes other sites may get pop ups but the amount of people I know that use Facebook and have issues with pop ups and other nasties is unbelievable.
Glad you have things sorted but do get ADWCleaner as it is very good
