I need help fixing my Zanussi Oven Light Unit

I accidentally fitted in the wrong type of bulb into my oven and it unfortunately melted into the unit. Does anyone have any advice on whether I can replace the bulb unit myself if I were able to buy a new one? I'm usually good at DIY if I'm give the instructions. The forum has helped me replace my shower mixer and bathroom extractor fans in the past.

I've attached a picture of the unit in question.

The bulb wasn't a heat resistant bulb then?

With the oven isolated/turned off you could see if the melted bit comes out but I think you may have to dismantle the oven to get to the bulb holder to get a better way of removing the melted bits.

Also a new holder as if anything is left in the holder could cause issues down the line.

What model make is the oven please.

Looks like an LED G9 bulb. The holder unit, including the grey melted part needs replacing. Access to it is likely to be via a rear panel so oven needs to be fully pulled out. Model of oven would be useful as mentioned.

If you're ok with electrics it shouldn't be too difficult. The holder is probably pressed or clipped in. Somewhere like Espares should have a replacement part.

OP has had issues with an oven light before but not sure if it's the same oven.

That's a ceramic bulb holder so it shouldn't have been damaged by the heat. You might be able to pick the remains of the melted bulb out - with the power off.

A heat-resistant G9 oven bulb is a specialised quartz-halogen capsule rated to withstand high temperatures—typically up to 300°C. An LED will not last long here!
