Lease Company has paid charge

Feel like I spend half my life fighting these parking charges!!!

Background is that my mum had extended stay in hospital before passing away. As we were ferrying my dad to the hospital frequently, we registered both mine and my wife's car for free parking, as he has a 'blue badge' (he's 90, with very limited mobility). We've both parked there many times without issue.

For some reason my wife's car has been 'pinged' on one random date.

The car is leased, and the lease company sent her an email on 15th October to ask for us to appeal by 19th October (and send them a copy of the appeal) or they'd pay the charge. The email wasn't picked up until yesterday (it didn't go into the Gmail 'primary' inbox) and, when we've gone to appeal, can see it's been paid. They also lob on another £25 'admin' charge to add insult to injury.

Firstly, I think only giving 4 days to respond is farcical.

I'm not sure what recourse I have. I feel like cancelling the DD mandate and making them jump through hoops to get another penny out of me, but know that, unfortunately, they would ultimately win and play havok with credit ratings.

Anyone any suggestions?

Did you ever get a copy of the original NtK?

Can we assume that no NtH was issued in your name?

Which lease company please? Not that it’s especially or directly relevant to you fighting them over the payment of the charge, but it will raise a red flag for other lease drivers (we get numerous on the forum) who lease through the same company. Forewarned is forearmed.

Please note, we are not a legal advice forum. I personally don't get involved in critiquing court case Defences/Witness Statements, so unable to help on that front. Please don't ask. .

I provide only my personal opinion, it is not a legal opinion, it is simply a personal one. I am not a lawyer.

Contact the hospital PALS team and ask them to get it cancelled.

It has been paid according to OP, otherwise that would/should have been first recourse - Plan A

What does your lease agreement say about parking charges?

I was thinking if hospital accepted it was a mistake and cancelled it - he could tell lease company to get a refund from parking company.

Worth a try but I suspect we know the outcome!

Is the lease with a private individual? What do the terms say verbatim about charges and fines?
