solar edge are saying the cost of any labour is purely down to the installer and they will only provide replacement components - I am waiting for green gen now.

They say the inverter was only connected to wifi for 1st time 27/08/26 which is not correct

the installer connected it originally and I changed it once when I changed the WiFi previously but I have been away on and off for a year with work and did not do it this time until 16/10 - so it is impossible that 27/09/26 it was connected

I have just trawled through all my paper work and found the workmanship warranty - happily it states 10 years workmanship warranty (though REAL recommend 2 years)

when I pointed this out the chap on phone was not overly keen to discuss it and said I’ll send you an email - reply to that and we will come and look at your inverter and see if we can sort optimisers via that.

As Shania Twain might say, your installers don't impress me much!

I don't know a lot about SolarEdge equipment but I suspect that everything is working more-or-less as it should and it's the app that's telling fibs.

As you've got your paperwork out, can you share details of exactly what was installed? What panels, what battery and so on?

I think actually the cost was £8300, I thought it was more but actually that was for Tesla system and not solar edge!
I have 9 panels that are 390W each

    9 solar edge optimisers

    GivEnergy 5.2kw battery

Generation meter and all the bits that go with the system - mounting brackets, cables etc

Solar edge inverter - all the

    Thanks, that's useful.

9 panels at 390 watts each is ~3.5kW total.

You've said you're in/near Marazion; do your panels all face south? And are they shaded at all, by trees for example?

PVGIS suggests that a 3.5kW PV system on St Michaels Mount (close enough!) facing south at an slope of 35 degrees should generate 3850kWh/yr. Depending on exactly when in 2023 the system was installed, 8700kWh to date might be a bit lower than you'd expect.

But, depending on how your system is configured, 8700kWh might just be the "exported" number and you might have self-consumed another 3-4000kWh on top of that, which would imply be a much healthier total generation figure.

Thanks QrizB for the tag, not been here in a while, nice to touch base again.

I did smile at the Shania Twain 😁

I think you have covered everything to be honest.

The only thing I'd say is that I'm with octopus for export also and every 3 months they contact me for the export meter readings, but also the power bill they send each month has a breakdown of import and export, and so the OP should be able to check his bills to see if and when the system stopped exporting.

    hi guys

well I am going to ring octopus in an hour or so but I Just spoke to Green gen

although I have 10 year workmanship warranty - because solar edge claim it is probably optimiser faults and they want Green gen to go on the roof to examine them - Green gen says their workmanship warranty does not cover labour or scaffold as the workmanship is not at fault.

solar edge apparently do not have the labour cost as part of their warranty - though I need to look at more depth at this.

Green gen also find it hard to believe that all 9 optimisers have gone statue same time and initially said they wil charge me £75 to come and look at the inverter and see if they can fix the fault like this.

they have now said they will waive the £75 this time but if they need to inspect optimiser they will need scaffold and I will liable for the charge.

They also know for a fact that wifi was originally connected to the solar system and I know it was connected with 2 providers over the period - I changed wifi March this year and updated my inverter October (my bad) solar edge claim the 1st time WiFi has ever been connected is 27/09/26 - which in my mind is impossible.

I find it incredible that 9 solar edge optimisers are potentially faulty and yet it could cost me a lot of money to repair it. It certainly makes the idea of saving via solar less credible if this is potentially an issue.

I can only hope that the issue can get fixed via the inverter and the free visit next week.

    Well, that's progress of sorts!

Just to check, has the generation meter changed from your last reading of 8698.61? What does it read now?
