Driving a camper van (not mine) under my own insurance?
As per title I have fully comprehensive Tesco insurance for my own car which entitles me to drive cars not belonging to me third party only. I'm in Glasgow at the minute and am due to pick my daughter up from the airport on Saturday but her car has given up the ghost. My car is at home in N. Ireland. My daughter does have a camper van, long wheelbase Peugeot Boxer which I could drive instead but can't seem to find out anything definite about insurance.
My policy states that I can drive another motor vehicle not belonging to me but states nothing about size or weight. Has anyone ever found themselves in this position and can offer advice as to whether I would still be insured for the camper van? Obviously I know it will be third party only. I may ring them tomorrow but I dread the queue and as I am dog sitting a very active Labrador I can't hang around for hours on a phone!

Taxi would be the solution especially when you take into account the possible charges a camper van could run up at the airport.

If practical for you then bus to/from the airport to city centre is £2 each way.
Things that are different: draw & drawer, brought & bought, loose & lose, dose & does, payed & paid0 -
Did what I should have done in the first place and rang them, was through to a very nice chap in five minutes! And the answer is no. Camper vans require their own insurance and can't be driven under a comprehensive policy when not the owner.
Taxi will cost a fortune but I don't see an alternative.
I had thought of the bus but then that would leave them miles away although I suppose a taxi from the city centre will be a hell of a lot cheaper than one from the airport!
Many thanks for the replies.

Obviously depends where your daughter is ending up but bus/taxi/train options might work.

A car club might be a more affordable solution,

Can she add you to her campervan insurance ?

The bus from Airport to Buchanan St Bus Station is very regular and quick with plenty of room for luggage then you can pick up taxi's from the rank to home. That would cut cost.
