HELP! Engine won't start

Not all smart-charge requires coding. It's mostly to do with stop-start, rather than smart-charge.
My 14yo Nissan has smart-charge, not stop-start. No need to code, and a perfectly normal wet lead battery.0 -
they only run full chat during warm up, when no-one cares about emissions,
Wouldn't that warm up be the time to be most concerned about emissions in most cases? Even in rural areas, the first few miles are in some kind of residential / commercial zone and any local emissions more sensitive than out on the open road.

You are making sense. Stop it at once 😀
The emissions figures you see on your V5c are measured after the engine is at normal operating temperature.
No-one actually cares about how much noxious fumes are belched out of the back of their car (except that lower CO2 = less fuel burned = less £££ and a cheaper 1st year registration fee), if they did they'd drive an EV, walk or cycle. The only people who care are the ones coughing in their wake.

I understand the performance of my car which is why I turn off stop/start before each journey.

I do care.

You don't need to worry because emissions do not travel. They stay exactly where it was produced and any higher emissions
created later do not count. You can have a really dirty engine produce as much pollution as a 1970's car and that is OK…
You just need a system that collects those emissions and then release it later when nobody is looking and/or it's not being tested.
So every time a diesel engine does a regen it's spewing out all the pollution they tried to remove. They should have just kept going
with the clean burn engines instead of tacking on pollution catchers.Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0 -
There seems to be a great number of errors in that.
All pollution counts and should be assessed on a lifecycle basis.
The extent to which the impact of pollution is a local or global impact varies with contaminant
