Hi,

I don't like the features of Windows 11 and feel it is bloated. Has anyone used / recommend Tiny11?

Many Thanks, :-)

Which specific Windows 11 features do you dislike, and what measurable improvement are you expecting? Tiny11 is an unofficial modification with potential security, compatibility and update issues. Removing components simply because you dislike Microsoft isn't necessarily a sensible technical decision.

IMO it would probably be best for you to run up a copy of Tiny11 in a virtual machine (e.g. VirtualBox) and try it and see if you like it - because you're the best person to judge that.

As a long-time Linux user, I feel obliged to make the comment: Have you tried one of the versions of Linux that has a non-bloated "feel" and a very simple user interface, such as Linux Mint? There seems to be an enduring myth that it's difficult to install, and that it cuts you off in some way from the world of Microsoft-centric computing (neither is true).

Windows 11 26H2 has received significant performance optimisations, although Microsoft has not removed all the features that people regard as bloat. On 15 October, Microsoft announced further improvements:

    • Responsiveness: Microsoft claims improvements of up to 20% in certain Windows interactions.
    • Memory management: Better efficiency, particularly on computers with 8GB RAM.
    • Background processes: Widgets consume fewer resources when not being used.
    • File Explorer and Start menu: Improvements to responsiveness.

On my machines, I use Group Policy to turn off what I consider unneeded and intrusive -

You can right-click on some of the stuff you don't need and choose Uninstall from the Start Menu.

    You could use Programs/Features:

Far as I know there's nothing that Tiny11 does that you can't do yourself after installation.
