Ebay - locked out

When trying to login on Ebay today, I found my account was locked, and that I need to speak to a customer representative (their words). But there seems to be no way of doing this on their site. There is no telephone number given to speak to anyone, and all one can do Is use their 'AI bot', which just sends me round in circles, after telling it I was locked out, so not resolving anything. Trying to change my password is futile as it just returns to the 'locked out you need to speak to a customer representative' message, But how does one do that?

Well after a considerable amount of time spent trying to find a way of contacting CS by phone or (any direct way) I finally found a freefone number for them, but not from their site. I was put through to CS, but even then it was quite a rigmarole to get through the menu options to do that. Their CS number was once displayed a few years ago, on their contacts page, but no longer seems to be the case, because even if you hit the 'contacts' button, there is no phone number shown. You either have to use the bot, or all the other options require you to be logged in, or present you with pages of info to resolve your issue.

This has to be about the worst example of CS I've ever come across. After finally managing to speak to CS I was told that my account was automatically blocked because I was using a different platform (OS) than previously. Yet I've done this loads of times in the past and Ebay then send me a 2 step verification code when this happens. But not this time. So my account is automatically blocked and now will not be available to use for another 48 hours, and I still have to rest my password.

I know security is important, but this palaver with the inconvenience and resulting frustration, takes things to a whole new level…rant over.

    Might be useful if you were to help others avoid ranting by telling us what the freephone number is?

    The official eBay UK freephone customer service number is 0800 358 3229, though they actively hide it because they prefer users to request a callback online. [1, 2]Another common UK helpline number that connects to their customer team is 0800 358 6551.

    The number I eventually found from another website was 0800 358 6552,. I still had to go through a stack of menu options before I eventually spoke to someone. But that part was the least of my frustration.

    Not sure where you found that number (0800 358 6551 ) from those 2 links. The first one shows an Ebay Disclosure Document, which amongst certain options is 'Complaints' which does give a number, but it's specifically for complaints, so different to the CS one. It will be useful if I have to take things to that level.

    The 2nd link is the page I originally came across, which gives no contact number or callback details, but links to various 'help' articles as mentioned, if one has a problem. Or you can use their bot, where you just go round in endless circles.

    ==========

    I still am unable to login 48 hours later as this message still comes up after I entered Ebay's code to reset my password that they sent by email. I may now well go to their complaints section, but I'll give Ebay CS one last chance to fix this.
