Biscuit Barrel

For Christmas I was bought a large ceramic biscuit barrel, but me and dh are dieting this year and there won't be any biscuits going in it! I'm trying to think of what else I could store in it instead. It has a large capacity and fits on my kitchen window-sill. I have a small kitchen with limited space, so I could do with filling it with something to gain space elsewhere but what?
My daughter has packed lunches as does my husband (most days). I've thought of cereal bars but after that I'm getting stuck. I'm reluctantly considering the more expensive boxed raisins again cos dd can not get the lids off of my plastic containers and she won't always put her hand up to ask for help!
Any ideas?

Fill it with the money you would have spent on biscuits and other "naughty" food. Use it for a (healthy) treat in 12 months time.0

i would say fill it with biscuits,,,
Then when you feel like being naughty you have to replace a biscuit with £1 coin. youll soon earn your self some money and youll stop eating biscuit

It's large and ceramic so would last about 5 minutes with pens and pencils in once the kids got hold of it. We also don't have much change in the house and what we do is filled with 2 money boxes we already own.0

Use it as a vase, it might brighten up your day.
Or, for keeping utensils in, although it may be a bit tall for that.Official DFW Nerd Club - Member no: 203.0 -
I keep pasta spirals in a ceramic biscuit barrel-we don't eat biscuits either!0

Smaller fresh fruits, such as clementines, kiwis, fresh figs, gala apples, baby bananas etc... Make it into a fresh fruit lucky dip! You'll get your 5 a day and it's better than dried fruits and cereal bars which have a high concentration of sugar per weight and are pretty calorific.Yeah, whatever. I'm a grown up, I can take it...0

My mum used to store all the different flours she owned in one big barrel and saves room in the cupboard.0

I think its terracotta rather than ceramic which keeps the whiffs of garlic and onion at bay, but you could try keeping them in there! Depends how big it is!0

I keep my rolling pin and cookie and biscuit cutters in mine. It saves trying to find somewhere to put them.
