Consumer Rights - Car Dealership

How much did you sign for?
Do you really want to buy from a dealer who acts like that?0 -
Well, that type of vehicle is often advertised and displayed with a "sticker price" that is £xxx + VAT.
No one can assess whether the price paid is a "steal" and an obvious error.
It may well be that the Trader is invoking "unilateral mistake"

No I would rather not buy from them, but I now have a loan that I have to deal with, I have just been messed about.
They have graciously knocked 2.5k off the 'new price' as a gesture of goodwill, but I have the loan for the original agreed price.
Also feel that I'm not the first customer this has happened too, so just wanted to get peoples opinions on if I could or should take it further.

If you "take it further", what result are you hoping for ?
If you are querying your Council Tax band would you please state whether you are in England, Scotland or Wales0 -
You may feel hard done by, but alleging they have behaved the same way previously is a little bit OTT.
Just walk away and find another vehicle elsewhere.0 -
So the order form included VAT.
Did you sign for the £24k or the net figure of £21k

Most people wouldn't know if a car was underpriced, especially with the dealership constantly talking up what a great deal it was.
The bottom line is that their team didn't catch the error, so there is no reason for you to feel defensive. If the tables were turned, they certainly wouldn't be chasing you down to hand money back.
Out of interest, what make, model, and year were you looking at?
They’ve given you the runaround and caused huge amounts of stress, anxiety, and wasted time. Asking for a proper goodwill payment or compensation for all this hassle would be entirely justified!

@UnsureAboutthis
The error was identified within a day.
The OP has already told us it was a Ford Ranger, which could be a commercial vehicle depending on model.
I doubt the OP would get any more than a token gesture as they aren't out of pocket.0 -
Thank you for clarifying—I somehow managed to miss the reference to the Ford Ranger.
The OP has undeniably experienced a severe breach of fair dealing. Investigating the grounds for a compensation claim is entirely justified here.
This was not a straightforward cash purchase where funds are simply returned; the involvement of pre-arranged vehicle finance—which the dealership was acutely aware of—compounds the degree of inconvenience and potential detriment caused.
On that basis, pursuing formal financial compo is a course of action well worth considering.

As its a Ford Ranger I'd see it as a good outcome. The OP can now look for a vehicle without well documented reliability issues.
