Barclaycard Letter
Noticed a transaction on my barclaycard last night that I didn’t recognise so was gonna call them today, anyways before I could call today I had a notification that my barclaycard had been removed from my apple pay so called them up, they said my card has been suspected for fraud use in the past couple of days and they have sent a letter out with what I need to do next, this is the part I find strange don’t they usually just sort it out on the phone with the fraud team and the card gets unblocked, is this normal practice to receive a letter first?.

Not sure why you find it strange that they are being proactive. Most people would be suspicious of an unsolicited call. Also, not sure why you decided to leave calling them till the next day when most card providers fraud lines are open 24 hours.

I see it early hours and didn’t think that the fraud lines would be open until I realised in the morning that they would most likely be 24hrs, just find it strange as usually when this has happened in the past I’ve just called up answered some questions and it’s all back working again.

How many times has this happened before?
Maybe second or subsequent instance of suspicious/unauthorised/dodgy transaction has triggered a more vigorous checking regime?

It happened once with another card years back and I just called and it was all sorted over the phone, maybe it’s different with barclaycard.

Financial services are very different nowadays, in lots of ways, compared to 'years back'.

Yeah I did think this was probably the case.

We have their Premier accounts with your cardholder—I've noted they are very, very good at helping out their customers 24/7 and answering the phone within seconds if you ring them via app.

Called the back of the number and they said my account has been closed and a letter has been sent out, knew this was a very strange practice to send a letter out instead of just sorting it on the phone, my current account remains fine with them though, could this be something CIFAS related, I’m thinking not as my current account remains fine, there saying it could even be a increase in debt elsewhere that could close it?.

Anyone any advice on my last comment please?.

Seems rather pointless anyone speculating on the reasons for Barclays closing your card account when there is a letter on its way which will presumably tell you the actual reason.
